Athletic Eligibility

Guidance Counselors, Coaches, and your Athletic Director are willing to advise students on athletic eligibility, but ultimately it is the responsibility of the student and their family to ensure student’s meet eligibility requirements.  Please visit the websites below for additional information.

High School Eligibility*

To be eligible a student-athlete must be receiving passing grades in a minimum of five one-credit courses or the equivalent in the immediately preceding grading period. The Ravenna School District also requires that Students earn at least a 1.0 GPA in the immediately preceding period.

Middle School Eligibility (Grades 7 & 8)*

A Middle School (grades 7 & 8) student-athlete must have received passing grades in a minimum of five of all subjects in which enrolled the immediately preceding grading period.

Note: Students taking post-secondary options must comply with these standards along with those participating via state law that permits home educated, non-public, community and STEM school students to participate at public schools in the district of residence of the parents.

 *For eligibility, summer school grades may NOT be used to substitute for failing grades received in the final grading period.

College Eligibility (NCAA)

To be eligible for Div. 1 or II college athletics a student must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center. It is the students/parents responsibility to be sure that all requirements are met. Course checks should also be made during the junior year and before scheduling for the senior year.
