Wednesday’s game against Springfield was a heartbreaker for Ravenna Ravens Varsity, as they lost the lead late in a 9-5 defeat. The game was tied at four with Springfield batting in the bottom of the fifth when Megan Campbell singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Ravenna Ravens Varsity got things moving in the first inning. Ravenna Ravens Varsity scored one run when Shalynn Barlow doubled.

Springfield knotted the game up at four in the bottom of the second inning. Saira Riddle doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

After Ravenna Ravens Varsity scored one run in the top of the sixth, Springfield answered with one of their own. Ravenna Ravens Varsity scored when Kaitlyn Rogers singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. Springfield then answered when Hannah Blosser doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Karly Devaney earned the victory on the rubber for Springfield. She surrendered five runs on three hits over seven innings, striking out five.

Rogers took the loss for Ravenna Ravens Varsity. She lasted five innings, allowing nine hits and eight runs while striking out two.

Rogers went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Ravenna Ravens Varsity in hits.

Springfield totaled ten hits. Marissa Fuller and Riddle each collected multiple hits for Springfield. Springfield was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Ciera Odom made the most plays with 11. Springfield tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Blosser led the way with two.
